Varsity vs Allen

Where do you start with a 46-7 final score? Well I will give you my bloggers opinion! The final score doesn’t tell the complete story of this game. No excuses allowed, just pure observation. Allen is a good football team. They flew to the ball on defense and had more than one big play guy on offense. There is a reason they are ranked #5 in the state. Enough about them! In the first half of the game all Allen had on offense was the big play. The Northwest defense had a few assignment issues that were exploited by a great team. I am not going to say they wouldn’t have scored on those drives, but let me remind you of the 1st and Goal in the 2nd quarter and all they got for the effort was a field goal. That 3 points were the only points the Texan D allowed in that quarter. On offense the team moved the ball well on them. Back to back calls against the offense killed a very efficient and productive drive that looked like it was going to send the boys in at halftime with 14 on the board. (You take the 2 big plays away in the first quarter and we score on that second quarter drive to end the half. The halftime score is 14-10; your Northwest Texans lead at halftime!) The second half was just like the first half. Allen was deep and it showed. Those Eagles never did just overpower and push the Texans around. The team played with heart for all 4 quarters of that game. I said it before and I will keep saying it. This team is close, we will win football games and I predict an upset is blowing in the wind! Good turnout and support for the game last Friday. Now lets roll into Midlothian and wreck their Homecoming plans!
