We Believe!!!

To the Texan fans, I think the theme of the week should be “We Believe”. After the showing of teamwork and heart on Friday night I am convinced that our boys can achieve anything. With the support of the band, cheerleaders, sidekicks and Texan fans; I believe that we will only fuel the fire that has been burning all summer long in these boys gut. With a taste of victory, they should be hungry for more.

To the Texan football teams, I will tell you this, it doesn’t matter what team you play for in any part of the country. All football players strap their helmets on the same way, and last time I checked only 11 players were allowed on the field at a time. So it doesn’t matter how big a school is or how many players are on the sidelines. I would take the size of a team’s heart over the size of a school any day of the week. Go Texans!

Freshman Red vs. Creekview

Freshman Red Loses In Final Seconds 13-6

The Northwest Freshmen Red Team lost a heartbreaker in their opener against Carrolton Creekview. The first half saw neither offense operating efficiently with Northwest failing to tally a first down and Creekview shooting themselves in the foot with 3 offensive penalties for 30 yards. However, the Texans did go into halftime with the lead thanks to a 4th down sack by Duke Kicinski setting up a 12 yard touchdown run by Reggie McDaniel. The Mustangs tied the game early in the third quarter with a 75 yard touchdown pass and the score remained locked until the visitors connected on another 75 yard pass play to the Texan 5 yard line with just over a minute left in the game. The Texans almost completed a heroic goal-line stand to send the game into overtime, but the Mustangs scored the winning touchdown on fourth and goal from the one with 15 seconds left.
The offense could only muster 57 total yards for the game, but the defense kept the Texans alive with an interception, a blocked punt and three sacks. You could see the team get better and more confident throughout the game and we should be ready for Allen next week. Go Texans!

Varsity vs Creekview

Wow what a way to start the season! Great game by the Texan football team, the Texan band, the Texan cheerleaders, the Sidekicks and Texan fans! That is how Friday nights should be for the Texans. It is always a big confidence boost when you get that first check mark in the win column.

The offense took the field to start the game with a short drive and a punt. Then the defense jumped out on the field and held the Mustangs to a field goal. The Texan O and Dylan quickly answered with an 18 yard reverse for a TD and a 7-3 lead with 4:41 left in the 1st quarter. On the following Creekview possession Casey O disrupted the drive with a pick and return. Unfortunately the ball was knocked loose and recovered by the Mustangs. That drive left the Texans down 10-7 early in the 2nd quarter. The offense took to the field and put together a good drive inside the 20 that was cut off by an interception with 18 seconds left in the half. Halftime score was 10-7. The second half started with a lively Texan D holding the Mustangs to a 3 and out. Jacob and a highly motivated offensive line took that first second half possession and drove it right to the heart of the Creekview defense. First play of the drive was a 40 yard keeper by Jacob up the middle to set the tone for the second half. The 80 yard drive was capped with a 1 yard TD by Jacob around the left side. Texan lead 14-10 with 5:45 left in the 3rd quarter. Those Mustangs responded with a drive of their own to jump back on top 17-14. Both teams traded possessions for the remainder of the third and start of the fourth quarters until Eric C jumped a Mustang pass giving the ball back. Dylan once again stepped up with a 32 yard reception to take the ball to the Creekview 11. Jacob scampered around the end from 3 yards out to put them back up 21-17. The defense had a fire lit and Creekview didnt have enough water to slow down the flames! The Mustangs were given a gift when a bobbled punt was recovered just inside Texan territory. The defense was not going to be denied on this night holding on a 4th down try from the 1, with 1:40 left in the game. Great team effort by those Texans. 21-17 final.

JV vs Carrollton Creekview

JV started the season off right last night with a nice 21 - 0 win over Creekview. The team looked pretty good out there. The game was a back and forth feeling out period for the first quarter. In the second quarter Creekview was driving but our defense had a huge stand on 4th and 1 from the 9 yard line. This got us going and we proceded to have a 14 play 91 yard TD drive to make it 8 to 0. The Defense really settled in in the second half really allowing nothing at all. In the 3 rd quarter we Scored through the air again making it 14 to 0. 4th quarter we had a drive stall on a holding call but after a roughing the punter call on 4th down kept us alive, we made them pay with our final TD which turned out to be a 17 play 71 yard drive. Defense did great, after controlling their QB they were done. We had 5 sacks and only a couple of pass completions. I would bet they had less than 100 yds total offense. Great Job. Offensively we had 133 yds passing with 2 tds, and 156 yds rushing with 1 td. Great Job as well.

Varsity scrimmage vs Summit

Finally football has returned! Friday was a good start, this team is gonna be on the salty side. The first series for both the offense and defense were fun to watch. Now keep in mind a scrimmage is just a glorified practice so don't look too deep into anything that happened later on in the scrimmage. This team is close, should be fun to watch them this year.

'The Boys of Fall' Video - Kenny Chesney - AOL Music

A lot of you may have seen this. It was shared with our youth team and thought you all might enjoy. I am ready to go play right now.

Freshman Authors needed

If you are a Freshman parent or someone who is pretty sure they will go to most of the freshmen games, we need volunteers to post a game summary to this blog after Freshman games.
